About the Institute

Mission statement: The mission of the Institute for Learning and Teaching is to provide leadership across the University in enhancing a culture that values and rewards excellence in learning and teaching.

The Institute accomplishes this mission through:

• increasing the visibility of teaching excellence at the University
• disseminating effective instructional practices
• developing and applying assessment techniques
• mentoring teachers
• providing professional development programs and activities
• supporting and funding research on learning, teaching, and assessment
• encouraging innovation in learning and teaching
• exploring the applications of technologies to enhance learning and teaching
• promoting interdisciplinary collaboration
• establishing connections with communities beyond the University
