Integrating technology into your courses can enhance student learning. TILT's instructional designers can offer guidance in the use of a wide range of tools, including the following.
- RamCT, Colorado State University's online learning platform, is the University's name for the newest version of Blackboard.
- Learning@CSU, provides support for students and instructors from across the curriculum at Colorado State University. The site can be used to gain access to materials for courses, create and publish ePortfolios, write and publish blogs or course wiki's as well as participate in online discussions. You can also use the site to locate tutoring and other forms of support for learning.
- Mediasite is a videocasting technology that captures audio, video, and a computer signal, such as a PowerPoint presentation, simultaneously and then streams the content live or on demand to students.
- Podcasts and Audio Clips can be used to introduce topics and support lectures.
- Captivate and Camtasia can help students learn about complex concepts, processes, and techniques using step- by- step instructions. The methods used by these programs include screen capturing, or creating a series of screenshots, with text descriptions.
- Adobe Connect is a technology that allows users to meet virtually in an online meeting room. The Adobe Connect online environment offers a variety of powerful functionalities, including: chat, screen sharing, whiteboard, live synchronous sessions, on-demand sessions and more.
- Flash Programs and Other Simulation Tools can be used to create interactive games or simulations that engage students in learning by doing.
- Clickers, also known as classroom response systems, can be used to poll students, particularly in large classes, to get immediate feedback and to generally assess student knowledge on a particular point. - ePortfolios can be used to collect evidence of educational and professional accomplishments.
- Wikis are online tool that can be used for collaborative work such as defining procedures, creating checklists, producing guidelines, sharing research results, creating group reports, and authoring course curriculum. Wikis are available in Learning@CSU Classes and through its Groups tool.
- Blogs allow writers to share and get response via the Web. Wikis are available in Learning@CSU Classes and through its Blogs tool. Learning@CSU blogs can be kept private, shared with individuals, shared with groups or classes, or published.
- Threaded Discussion Forums support discussions of course subjects and issues. Discussion forums are available in both RamCt and Learning@CSU.
- Chat support real-time discussions of course subjects and issues. Chats can also be used to advise or respond to student work. A chat tools is available on Learning@CSU.
