Certificate in Teaching with Technology
The unique opportunities that
come with employing technology in the college-level classroom can be both
exciting and overwhelming. The Certificate in Teaching with Technology,
which requires a commitment of approximately 20 hours, offers you the
opportunity to:
- Learn about multiple forms
of technology that can influence our teaching practices (e.g., learning
management systems, assistive technology, smart classroom technology, student/personal
response systems, podcasting, streaming video, screen capture software,
and videoconferencing).
- Gain
insight into special challenges and benefits of using technology in the
college classroom.
- Gain hands-on experience by
learning a variety of pedagogical approaches to teaching with technology.
General Requirements
- Attend at least six workshops that address teaching with technology and write Workshop Responses (download the workshop review form) for each. The Institute's Teaching with Technology Workshop Series provides one opportunity for identifying workshops that address teaching with technology. The workshops are each an hour long and are held approximately twice each month. Dates and times are published at the beginning of each semester on the TILT Web site at http://tilt.colostate.edu/twt/.
- Complete the Teaching ePortfolio requirements.
Options
- Teaching with Technology. Participate in ten hours of teaching or teaching-related activities that enhance your understanding of the use of technology in the college classroom. If you are a GTA or a GRA assigned to help teach a course, and your instructor utilizes some form of instructional technology, your experience in teaching with the technology can be applied toward this certificate.
