University Distinguished Teaching Scholars
Up to twelve members of the faculty at Colorado State University are given the title of University Distinguished Teaching Scholar. The title is held for the duration of their affiliation with the University. Faculty named University Distinguished Teaching Scholars have records of performance ranking them among the most outstanding teachers and educators in their disciplines, as reflected by their accomplishments as both scholars and teachers, and have received national and international acclaim in recognition of outstanding achievement. Department of Soil and Crop Sciences, College of Agricultural Sciences Dr. Barbarick has taught Introductory Soil Science, Soil Chemistry, Environmental Agronomy and Soil Fertility (Univ. of Hawaii). His research focuses on recycling waste materials in soils. He is a Fellow in the American Society of Agronomy, Soil Science Society of America, and National Association of College and Teachers of Agriculture. Department of Forest, Rangeland and Watershed Stewardship, College of Natural Resources Dr. Burke's research interests include: biogeochemical cycling in semiarid ecosystems, at local to regional scales; soil carbon and nitrogen turnover; nitrogen retention in soils; and influences of landuse management on net ecosystem production and C, N, and P storage. Department of English, College of Liberal Arts Professor Cowell teaches American literature, American Studies, and Women's Studies. Her major research has been in early American studies, but she has also published articles on Melville, B. School of Education, College of Applied Human Sciences Rich Feller teaches graduate courses in career development, counseling, and performance and change. Having served fast food at McDonald’s to study youth employment, produced a video in Sudan on starvation and famine relief, and co-authored a career development program used by over 20 million students he enjoys making classes high energy, experiential and reflective. Department of Mathematics, College of Natural Sciences Dr. Paul Kennedy is a Professor in the Department of Mathematics at Colorado State University. His career in the teaching and learning of mathematics spans 33 years, including 10 years as a secondary mathematics teacher and 23 years as a university mathematics educator. She has published three textbooks on writing, as well as a book and numerous articles on computers and composition. Psychology, College of Natural Sciences Wayne Viney received his Ph.D. in experimental psychology with a minor in History and Philosophy of Science from the University of Oklahoma in 1964. He is currently professor of Psychology at Colorado State University where he teaches graduate and undergraduate courses in the History of Psychology and in the Psychology of Religion.
