Learning and Getting Research Oriented

You will spend three to six hours/week during your first semester with an assigned faculty mentor learning research fundamentals, techniques and procedures.

This first semester is also a time for you to explore and discuss research topics with your mentor while getting acclimated to the university environment.

In addition, through meetings arranged by OURA, the Office for Undergraduate Research and Artistry, you will have the opportunity to mix, mingle, and exchange information with other HURS scholars.

By the end of your first semester—barring any unforeseen circumstances—you should be ready to become actively engaged in an exciting research project.
