Description:
Our session will be an informal "meet & greet" opportunity to introduce the Women of Color Advocates & Allies Network to our Colorado State University colleagues and campus community members. We will provide a description of why the President's Commission on Women and Gender Equity is supporting the Women of Color Advocates & Allies Network, as well as provide some information as to what our vision entails for future networking events and mentoring opportuntities. We also hope to have an interactive component of the session where participants will help brainstorm ideas for further developing the Women of Color Advocates & Allies Network.
Goals and Target Audience:
Targeted Audience: Supported by the President’s Commission on Women, Gender and Equity (CWGE), the Women of Color Advocates & Allies Network seeks to connect women of color for professional growth and personal support. By forming mentoring programs, career advancement workshops, such as leadership trainings, and women of color (WOC) events, campus spaces for equitable advancement and support for women of color will be sustainably created. Goals: To promote and facilitate the development of mentoring relationships among postdoctoral fellows, faculty, and staff who identify as women and women of color. Conceptually, the mentoring programs will assist women in the advancement of their careers, as well as increase confidence about their chances for success. As a whole, these mentoring programs will help create a more cooperative learning and working environment at Colorado State University.
