Since its launch in 2004, Google Scholar has firmly established itself as a critical resource for those conducting academic research. But how does this tool compare to scholarly research databases? In this workshop, participants will gain valuable hands-on experience with, and information about, Google Scholar. We'll discuss some of Google Scholar's best features, talk about some of its flaws, and learn tips and tricks for maximizing search results.
Goals and Target Audience:
In this hands-on technology workshop, participants will spend time learning the ins and outs of Google Scholar. They will learn how to use GS most effectively and will learn tips and tricks for maximizing their search results. We'll also discuss some of the problems that may arise for scholarly researchers when using this Google tool, and some of the handicaps it presents in comparison to library databases and other search tools. Targeted audience is all interested CSU faculty and staff.
