Description:
Colorado State University has developed a new online tool, called the FAMweb portal, which allows family members and trusted individuals, designated by each student, online access to specific student educational records. In this session we'll review the changes to RAMweb that support the consent to access by the student for FAMweb and then we'll show what FAMweb is all about. We'll also discuss FERPA issues related to parent and third party access to student education records and how that ties in with FAMweb.
Goals and Target Audience:
Faculty and staff that have access to student education records and who advise students or get questions from parents and families about the student.

This session will review changes to federal regulations and institution policies and procedures governing the privacy, release and handling of student education records under FERPA.
Goals and Target Audience:
Faculty and staff who have access to student education records, especially those who may receive requests from parents and others for information about students, will refresh their understanding of the FERPA laws, rules and policies, and learn how requests for disclosure of information from student records should be handled to minimize the possibility of violating privacy laws.
