Description:
Different vendors create tools that can plug into Canvas via LTI (Learning Tools Interoperability). Current tools included in Canvas include Unizin’s Engage e-text reader, McGraw Hill, Pearson MyLab, Cidilabs Design Tools, etc. An instructor can submit a request to have a tool evaluated for inclusion in Canvas. The CSU Digital Tool committee reviews these requests base on a number of criteria. Then makes a recommendation to the campus LMS Steering Committee to include or not include the tool in Canvas. Come learn about the request process and what criteria is used to evaluate a digital tool, either for Canvas or the classroom.

Leveraging CSU's Unizin membership, students save an average of 60% off the list price of print textbooks. This session will focus on the pedagogical benefits of using Engage. Discover how Engage analytics show how students consume content and how instructors use Engage to interact with students.

Many current and new classrooms are being equipped with a BYOD (Bring Your Own Device) design. Come see a demonstration of a typical lectern and test out your favorite teaching devices. Learn about the new Sharp Touchscreen Technology introduced this fall and how you can increase student engagement by interacting with your content.
Goals and Target Audience:
Faculty, Staff, and GTA's who teach in Smart Classrooms on the CSU Fort Collins Campus will leave with an understanding of the capabilities of smart technology equipped classrooms. If they choose to take time to practice and interact with the technology, they will have a comfort level to try these out in their own classrooms. Attendees are encouraged to bring their teaching devices such as laptops, tablets, and iPads, to try out.

In 2017, Colorado State University partnered with FutureLearn, a social learning platform, to expand our reach and deliver courses to learners around the world. In this session, we will introduce the FutureLearn platform, discuss how we can have a global reach and further the CSU brand, and share content in a new, exciting way. We will also showcase current CSU FutureLearn courses.
