This session will extend the basic tenets of Respect for Persons, Beneficence and Justice as spelled out in the Belmont Report into the current landscape of Human Subjects Research. CSU Institutional Review Board professionals will lead a discussion about efforts underway to ensure that research occurring at CSU and its affiliate institutions fulfills its commitment to these ideals. The session will also function as working group to incorporate important feedback from researchers, community members and other stakeholders at the University who are engaged in this work. Together, we hope to ensure that the benefits of the cutting edge research occurring at CSU are extended to the populations that will gain the most benefit.
Goals and Target Audience:
The goals of this session are to:
1.Bring together stakeholders in Human Subjects Research at CSU for a conversation about Diversity, Equity and Inclusion.
2.To develop tools and resources that will help ensure Human Subjects Research done at CSU and its affiliates is extended to the populations that will derive the greatest benefit.
Anyone who is interested in being part of this conversation is welcome to attend and participate. We will cover DEI in research from the perspective of an Institutional Review Board and Human Subjects Researchers. While there are some regulatory and technical nuances to what must be included, the outcomes of Human Subject Research must be applied justly across the population. To this end, the input and perspectives of the entire community are of significant value to the conversation.
