Description:
Students, like us, have busy and rich lives outside their place of employment. How can you, as an employer, respond to your students when outside factors start to impact their work? How do you off-board a student when their term of employment comes to an end, either because of graduation or other reasons for leaving? This session will walk you through some strategies and tactics to put in your toolbox for those tough conversations as well as provide insight on creating a comprehensive off-boarding process for your employees. Come ready to share your thoughts in this interactive session! This is one of four workshops that cover the student employee hiring basics, as part of the four core courses in the ELEVATE: Student Supervision Focus Certificate
Goals and Target Audience:
1. Supervisors of student staff who participate in this webinar will be able to implement two different models of feedback as demonstrated by practice in a small group setting during the course and in their own feedback sessions with student staff. 2. Supervisors of student staff who participate in this webinar will be able to reflect on the anticipated demands within their department each semester and create a feedback cycle for their student employees that incorporates observations and check-ins at an interval that is appropriate for their department. 3. Supervisors of student staff who participate in this webinar will be able to recall at least three aspects of a comprehensive off-boarding plan as demonstrated by the creation of their own plan that incorporates said aspects. Audience: FT/PT staff and faculty who hire student staff members, HR Liaisons
