Join us in Suzanne and Walter Scott, Jr. Bioengineering Building, Room 229 for a presentation led by Pinar Omur-Ozbek, Teaching Associate Professor in CSU’s Civil and Environmental Engineering department. Her presentation, titled “Fostering Connection and Purpose in the Learning Environment” will explore real-life and experienced strategies to create meaningful connections and inspire purpose in the classroom, offering insights for educators across disciplines.
BIO: Pinar Omur-Ozbek is a Teaching Associate Professor in Civil and Environmental Engineering at Colorado State University, where she has taught since 2009. She specializes in environmental engineering education, focusing on global water challenges, climate change, sustainability, and engineering ethics. Her research includes enhancing drinking water quality, addressing harmful algal blooms, and investigating the effects of wildfires and hydraulic fracturing on water and air quality. Actively involved in faculty development through ASCE and ASEE, she has earned numerous awards, including the 2024 George T. Abell Outstanding Faculty Teaching and Mentoring Award.
