Dr. Paul Laybourn earned his BS in Biology at the University of California, Santa Barbara. After working in the Biotech industry for three years in the San Francisco Bay Area he went on to obtain his Ph.D in Biochemistry at the University of California, Davis. After a postdoctoral fellowship at the University of California, San Diego he was excited to land a tenure track faculty position in the Department of Biochemistry and Molecular Biology at Colorado State University, Fort Collins, just 40 miles from where he was born (Cheyenne, WY).
Dr. Laybourn has taught courses in genetics, cell biology and biochemistry from the freshman to graduate level for over 25 years. He currently conducts research in cancer biology, brewing biochemistry and how to improve learning outcomes in science courses at the college level in collaboration with faculty in the Department of Biology and Instructonal Designers in TILT.
