Aneka Normandie OURA Ambassador Headshot

College/Major: College of Liberal Arts/Communication Studies and History

Biography: I am a third-year undergraduate Communication and History student here at CSU, and member of Kappa Delta sorority! In addition, I am a part of the WIRC lab, assisting Dr. Pennington with interpersonal communication research concerning friendships and support systems. Some other areas of research I love to focus on are queer history and politcal/social movements. Outside of school I love to be involved within my sorority, rodeo, music, and work as a barista!

Research Experience: Quantitative and qualitative data collection, data cleaning, designing and analyzing surveys, conducting interviews, and coding.

Campus involvement: OURA Ambassador, WIRC with Dr. Pennington, SET Leader

Post-graduation plans: Attend grad school to hopefully become a professor!

Favorite part of research: My favorite part of research so far is being able to help conduct interviews and data collection. I really enjoy getting to hear all the different perspectives of interviewees and seeing where everything fits into coding the data we receive!

Advice for students interested in getting involved in research: Becoming a part of research at CSU has truly been one of the best experiences in my academic career. It not only helps you immensely in every one of your classes, but it really prepares you for feeling successful before graduating. I recommend research to everyone I meet!
