Emma Hoopes

College/Major: College of Agricultural Sciences/Agricultural Biology
Biography: I am a senior majoring in Agricultural Biology with a minor in Agricultural Data Science. I am especially interested in implementing technology to promote sustainable and socially conscious agriculture systems. When I’m not in class or working, I’m usually roller blading, hiking, or watching hockey (Go Avs!).
Research Experience: Quantitative data collection, remote sensing, data analysis, machine learning, and conference presentations.
Campus involvement: OURA Ambassador, Nutrien Scholar, Quad Club, Entomology Club
Post-graduation plans: Attend grad school and find a job focused on agriculture research and public outreach.
Favorite part of research: I love talking about my research and learning about others. I find that this is the best way to expand your knowledge and make connections!
Advice for students interested in getting involved in research: Ask questions! This demonstrates your interest in the subject, plus researchers love to talk about their work.
