College/Major: Health and Human Science/Health and Exercise Science 

Biography: I am a third-year CSU Health and Exercise Science undergraduate. My research interests focus on the study of metabolic disease and cognitive decline and the development of preventative therapies to combat them. I am a huge Tampa Bay sports fan, amateur chef, downhill skier, and proud CSU Ram. 

Research Experience: Quantitative data collection and analysis, sample collection and isolation, and writing literature reviews.  

Campus involvement: OURA Ambassador, HES Club Member, Pre-Medica Club Member, Honors Student, and Alonso Quijano Undergraduate Research Scholar 

Post-graduation plans: Attend medical school at either an MD or MD/PhD program. 

Favorite part of research: My favorite part of research is data collection and research design, because I feel I have a direct impact on the improvement of medical research and the overall health of people around the world.

Advice for students interested in getting involved in research: Do not be afraid to reach out to professors or research heads. You may have to do things outside of your comfort zone or things that do not come easy to you, but those things are almost always the most fruitful for your education.
