Tori Entwistle

College/Major: Walter Scott, Jr. College of Engineering; Mechanical and Biomedical Engineering
Biography: I am in my final year at Colorado State University pursuing dual degrees in Biomedical and Mechanical Engineering, driven to enhance mobility for individuals with disabilities. I work at the Orthopeadic Bioengineering Research Laboratory. Here I help in biomedical device research with independent companies through animal testing. I am a huge fan of Hippie Sabotage, hiking, skiing, and rollerblading. A fun fact about me is that I have a cat named after an online graph calculator, Desmos.
Research Experience: I have over three years of experience as an Undergraduate Research Assistant at the Orthopedic Bioengineering Research Laboratory, where I conduct animal dissections, perform microCT scanning and analysis, and assess histomorphology. My work involves leading dissection teams, collaborating with sponsors and peers, and capturing and analyzing imaging data. I am skilled in qualitative data collection and analysis, ethnographic methods, and community-engaged research. Additionally, I prepare detailed documentation, reports, and conference presentations to effectively communicate research findings.
Campus involvement: OURA Ambassador, Society of Women in Engineering, Biomedical Engineering Society
Post-graduation plans: Find a position helping those with disabilities walk in some capacity, either through assisted devices or a really cool exo-skeleton!
Favorite part of research: I love the opportunities that my research lab has given me. I have been able to meet so many sponsors from very large Biomedical engineering companies. I’m even on a fantasy football team with the Dean of Mechanical Engineering. Additionally, I love my co-workers, such amazing people.
Advice for students interested in getting involved in research: Just get out there, do your research on which facility you like to do research with, and just send an email asking if you can join. The worst you can hear is a no. The best you can do is get an awesome job.
