It is also designed for current researchers to take your skills to the next level. It is a self-paced and completely asynchronous course that allows you to grow your skills and build confidence on your own schedule.

This course is composed of 5 modules:

  • The first section, “Introduction to Undergraduate Research,” will explain what undergraduate research is, provide you with an overview of a few different forms of undergraduate research, and outline the benefits of engaging in research as an undergraduate.
  • In the second module, Exploring Research you will learn how to explore your research interests, identify what kind of research might be best for you,  and learn about what research is happening at CSU and beyond.
  • The third section, “Undergraduate Research Toolkit,” provides you with an overview of many of the skills you might need before and during an undergraduate research experience. Including building basic research skills and understanding research culture and expectations.
  • The fourth Module, Essential Documents,” provides an overview of common materials needed for applying to undergraduate research opportunities. This module provides an overview on how to read research position descriptions, frame your transferable skills as research skills, develop CVs and Resumes, and draft a undergraduate research focused personal statement.  
  • The last section, “Taking Action,” will help you reflect on what you have learned and help you develop a plan to find a research mentor and get involved!
