Teaching with Art: The Perfect Intersection. Creative workshops that use visual art and artistic practices to foster reflection, dialogue, and new perspectives on teaching, learning, and student experience.

The Teaching with Art workshop series leverages CSU’s rich cultural resources, including the Gregory Allicar Museum of Art, and faculty expertise to enhance pedagogical practices across disciplines through object-based teaching and learning.

The series provides CSU faculty with innovative teaching tools that integrate visual literacy, critical thinking, and interdisciplinary learning through engagement with art objects, design pieces, and cultural artifacts.

  • Increase utilization of CSU’s cultural resources for academic purposes

How does image-making and photography illuminate our understanding of that magnificent machine, the horse? For this ‘Teaching with Art’ session with Dr. Stephen Coleman, CSU Associate Professor of Animal Sciences, and David Pyle, CSU Green+Gold Instructor, we’ll explore how the art of photography brings meaning to the science of equine evolution, culture and locomotion. From there, participants will have the opportunity to participate in the creation of a range of art/science interdisciplinary models for the classroom.
