Proctoring at the University Testing Center

All proctoring services for Colorado State University Online courses are housed out of the University Testing Center. The University Testing Center is responsible for managing the following:

PROCTORING OPTIONS FOR STUDENTS

  1. Online proctoring with ProctorU — available for online classes under CSU Online. For other courses, consult your department as students might have to pay fees.
  2. Proctoring at the University Testing Center - located at 1251 Mason St., Fort Collins, CO 80523. Available for online classes under CSU Online (800 level) for no fee. For other courses, students might have to pay fees.
  3. Off-site proctoring – Distance Proctoring for students enrolled in a course which requires paper-based or online exams are allowed to locate a verified and approved proctoring center in their area. They must fill out a Proctor Request Form located on our CSU Online Exam page.

ONLINE PROCTORING (ProctorU)

To use ProctorU for your online exams, several important steps are needed:

  1. Integrate information into your syllabus about the proctoring options available (example verbiage is provided below).
  2. Please sign up for an account at ProctorU
  3. Please allow up to 24 hours for your account to be activated. For faster activation, please contact bmaxim@proctoru.com
  4. Once activated, you will be able to add exams. You can either:
    1. Contact bmaxim@proctoru.comfor 1 on 1 training
    2. Refer to ProctorU | How it Works for step by step instructions

Students must schedule exams at least three days in advance with ProctorU by logging on to Canvas. The cost for online proctoring through ProctorU is included in the cost of the course for students enrolled in Division of Continuing Education course sections.

PROCTORING AT THE UNIVERITY TESTING CENTER

In order for students to have an exam proctored at the University Testing Center, faculty will need to:

  1. Integrate information into your syllabus about the proctoring options available (example verbiage is provided below).
  2. Submit either your Online or Paper-Based Assessment Directive Form to the University Testing Center at least two weeks before the first exam in the course.
  3. If the course requires paper-based exams, faculty should then send a PDF copy of each exam to the University Testing Center a minimum of three business days before each exam opens.

PROCTORING AT AN ALTERNATE ACCREDITED TESTING CENTER

In order for the University Testing Center to distribute paper-based or online exams to approved off-site proctors, faculty will need to:

  1. Integrate information into your syllabus about the proctoring options available (example verbiage is provided below).
  2. Submit an Assessment Directive Form to the University Testing Center at the beginning of the semester.
  3. Send a PDF copy of each paper-based exam to the University Testing Center a minimum of three business days before each exam opens.
  4. Let Students know they must submit a Proctor Identification Form found at CSU Online Exams at least two weeks prior to the first date the exam is available.
    1. The University Testing Center staff will verify other testing centers.
    2. Instructors will need to assist with verifying off-site individual proctors
  5. Once proctors are verified, the University Testing Center will distribute exams to approved proctors 2 days prior to the opening date of each exam.
