Win-Win: Enhancing Accessibility and Elevating Teaching Effectiveness

This session is designed to present a case study on how participating in a professional development course focused on accessible electronic content highlighted the importance of accessibility, inspired the adoption of universal design principles that support all students, and contributed to my Teaching Effectiveness Initiative (TEI) journey. The session will also outline select “baseline priority tasks” required of faculty in order to move toward compliance with federal and state regulations. Also explored is how TEI participation positively impacts students and enhances teaching effectiveness.

Learning Outcomes:
1) Understand the importance of digital accessibility and who it benefits
2) Identify selected key tasks to prioritize in order to reach a base level of accessibility
3) Recognize how engaging in professional development and TEI facilitates student success and teaching effectiveness
