Future-Ready Faculty:Designing Next-Gen Assignments and Assessments with AI

As AI continues to reshape higher education, faculty must adapt their teaching and assessment strategies to prepare students for an evolving landscape. In this interactive workshop, we explored how to design assignments that enhance student learning while recognizing the realities of AI tools. Participants engaged with evidence-based frameworks for authentic assessment, discussed transparent guidelines for AI use in coursework, and examined the strengths and limitations of AI in grading and feedback.

Workshop Goals

  • Develop assignments that enhance student learning while acknowledging the realities of AI tools
  • Apply practical evidence-based frameworks for developing authentic assessments in an AI-integrated learning environment
  • Implement transparent guidelines and strategies to help students make informed decisions around appropriate AI use in assignments
  • Discuss the capabilities and limitations of using AI in assessment, including grading and providing feedback

Key Topics Covered

  • How to use AI meaningfully in our context
  • Overview of prompt engineering
  • Designing authentic assignments with AI
