We are excited to be parterning with the 2026 AI Teaching and Learning Symposium this year!

Six AI specific virtual Ramp Up Pre-sessions will take place immediately following the AI Symposium in the afternoon of August 10th!  Register in Bridge via the links in this downloadable PDF or via the Brige links below.

The usual two days of virtual Fall Ramp Up sessions will continue on Tuesday, August 11th and Wednesday August 12th from 9:00 am to 3:00 pm.

Ramp Up’s Purpose: To bring faculty and graduate teaching assistants up to speed with new and existing campus technology.

Objectives: Ramp-up attendees will be able to:

  • Identify and implement the basics of new and existing campus technologies and services into their classrooms.
  • Locate resources that would be helpful when integrating technology into the classroom.
  • Connect with people and departments that support classroom technology across campus.

Audience: Faculty and graduate teaching assistants—especially those who are new to CSU.

Fall Ramp Up Sessions – 2026

Monday, August 10 – AI Symposium Ramp Up Pre-Sessions

The Ramp Up AI Pre-Sessions follow the AI Teaching and Learning Symposium and are held virtually via Teams. There are six 50-minute sessions beginning at 1:00 pm.

Writing, Revision, and Ethical Discernment: An Approach to AI Literacies Across the Curriculum

Time: 1:00–1:50 pm

Presenter: Kelly Bradbury, Associate Professor, Composition

Description: Generative AI is reshaping how students approach writing and learning in every discipline—not just writing classrooms. This workshop offers faculty across the curriculum practical, principled strategies for navigating AI in the writing they assign. Using Stuart Selber's multiliteracies lens, we explore how functional AI literacy, critical interrogation of feedback sources, and rhetorical self-authorship apply whether students are writing lab reports, case analyses, or reflective essays.

Using AI for Accessibility: Tips and Tricks for Making Accessible Content with AI

Description: Join us for an introduction to AI prompt making for accessibility and practical use-cases to help improve the accessibility of your courses. Description: As AI tools become increasingly incorporated into the digital world, they are also impacting the world of scholarly research. In this presentation, CSU librarians will discuss specific strategies for using AI in research, from AI integrated in databases to specialized tools for literature reviews. We will also examine the ethical issues and challenges with using AI in the research context. Finally, we will discuss the implications of AI use on copyright and publication.

Description: This session walks faculty through the AI landscape at CSU: what tools are approved for use with institutional data, what the risks are with consumer options like ChatGPT, and where each one fits in your work. You'll also get a progress update on RamGPT, CSU's multi-agent AI platform built on Microsoft Azure and grounded in campus data sources, along with a clear picture of what it will and won't do. Time will be reserved for questions.

Insisting on Integrity: Preparing Your Courses for an Uncertain Landscape

Description: As we've learned, the innovation cycle of emerging AI technologies does not conform to a semester course schedule. How do we ensure that the learning we work so hard for students to accomplish in our courses doesn't get sidetracked by disruptions? Join Joseph Brown, Director of the CSU Academic Integrity Program, to hear about common-sense strategies that will help you navigate the unplanned challenges likely to occur, encourage academic integrity, and promote learning in your course. We will discuss syllabus statements, communicating expectations, and identifying acceptable uses versus detecting and managing unauthorized uses of AI. Participants will leave with a syllabus statement they can adapt, a framework for deciding between acceptable and unacceptable AI uses, knowledge of university-approved proctoring tools, a realistic understanding of what AI detection tools can and cannot do, and clear next steps if an academic misconduct incident arises.

Maximizing Student Engagement with Modern iClicker Questions and Peer Instruction

Description: iClickers are a fantastic and evidence-based way to get students engaged in the learning process during class, from asking multiple choice questions to using more interactive question types such as multiple select, ranking, matching, numeric, and click-on-target. In addition, the educational literature strongly supports using iClickers to facilitate peer instruction which improve student outcomes. This workshop will provide participants with an engaging opportunity to apply modern iClicker questions and peer instruction techniques to their own courses. By the end of this workshop, participants will be able to:

Course Reserve Basics: Making Your Teaching Life Easier

Saving Time with Grading: Getting Started with Gradescope

Description: Gradescope is a powerful tool for improving efficiencies with grading of all sorts of types of assignments. Introduction to the New SDC Instructor Portal

This new online system will provide faculty additional support with managing accommodations requests and information. Design Smarter, Assess Better: Using AI, Bloom's Taxonomy, and CATS to Improve Assessment Alignment

Description: By the end of this workshop, participants will be able to:
  • Identify Bloom's Taxonomy verbs and levels within current course learning objectives
  • Use AI to detect misalignment between objectives and assessments
  • Use AI to suggest assessment methods aligned with Bloom's levels
  • Use AI to recommend appropriate CATS techniques
This presentation demonstrates how faculty can use an AI generator as a tool to strengthen course design by aligning course learning objectives with meaningful assessments. Using Bloom's Taxonomy and Classroom Assessment Techniques (CATS) framework, participants will learn how AI can quickly identify cognitive levels, detect misalignment between objectives and assessments, and recommend assessment strategies that provide stronger evidence of student learning.

Description: Even though AI/large language models (LLMs) have become a significant part of our society, there are persistent misunderstandings about what these systems are and how they work. In this talk, two librarians will discuss how important it is to understand the basics of these systems in order to use them effectively and responsibly. We will specifically address several persistent myths, including that LLMs are neutral, that they are 'search engines' or 'information sources,' that they are always accurate, and that they 'understand' text. We will also discuss our experiences teaching AI literacy and engaging students with critically examining LLMs and LLM-generated content.
