Akiko Nakamura, Ph.D. (she/her) is a Teaching Assistant Professor in the Department of Chemistry, where she teaches General Chemistry, Organic Chemistry, and Sustainable Chemistry.

Before joining CSU, Dr. Nakamura taught a variety of chemistry courses in Florida and gained more than a decade of experience in higher education. During that time, she also organized professional development programs for faculty and students. At CSU, she brought the Inclusive STEM Teaching Project (https://www.inclusivestemteaching.org/) to the College of Natural Sciences and has facilitated the program to support faculty, postdoctoral scholars, and graduate students in adopting evidence-based inclusive teaching practices. She is passionate about creating engaging, inclusive classrooms for all learners that support student success and inspire curiosity about chemistry.
